I’ve spent the last few months debating how to organize coloring books – should they be by ecoregion as per the EPA, or should they be by state?
As with most difficult choices, I’ve decided that doing both is best, and it will just take more work on my end. So, since I’ve already published two books by ecoregion, I decided to make one just for California this time.
At some point I will probably put together books for ecoregions that are overlap with California state borders, (Ecoregions 6, 10, 11), but for now there’s 35 new pages of some interesting plants native to California.

Ecoregions are broad ecological zones defined by consistent patterns of climate, geology, soils,
and biological communities that distinguish them from neighboring areas. Ecoregions do not follow
state lines – not even close – so a state as large as California has many different distinct ecoregions,
many of which it shares with bordering states.
